Revision as of 04:50, 23 September 2011
Grey Knights, Inquisitors, Psykers and Assassins first appeared in the Rogue Trader period. They were not a separate range as such but seemed to appear loosely grouped as part of the "Forces of the Imperium".
Around 2003, Games Workshop released the Daemonhunters range, loosely based around a core of Grey Knights, and the Witchhunters range, loosely based around a core of Sisters of Battle. These ranges included Inquisitors, Psykers and Assassins.
By 2006-7, the ranges had been regrouped with the bulk of the Inquisitors and other figures from the Daemonhumters and Witchhunters ranges then being grouped as part of the Grey Knights.

Inquisitors
The first Inquisitor figure appeared in the Rogue Trader Part One Flyer - that figure subsequently became part of the Adventurers range. Another appeared in the same flyer as part of the Mercenaries range and that figure subsequently became part of the Forces of the Imperium range.
Two sets, each of 3 figures, appeared briefly in the Autumn 1989 trade catalogue but had disappeared by the time the 1991 Blue catalogue was published. Another figure appeared as part of the Forces of the Imperium in the same catalogue.
Two terminator Inquisitors also appeared in the Autumn 1989 Trade Catalogue.
Where figures appeared in the 1991 Blue Catalogue, the reference is shown.

Psykers
The first psyker appeared as part of the original Rogue Trader releases in the March 1987 flyer. That figure later became Astropath Yerl in the Adventurers range before becoming part of the Forces of the Imperium in the 1991 Blue Catalogue.
A second psyker appeared only as part of the Adventurers range in the Rogue Trader Part Three Flyer and 1988 Catalogue.
Three Iron Claw psykers never appeared in the catalogues.
Five sanctioned psykers appeared in the Autumn 1989 Trade Catalogue. This group were expanded to six in the 1991 Blue Catalogue.
There were three additional psykers which first appeared in White Dwarf 172 and then in the 1993 Black Catalogue.
